Axiom Events were invited on board by Production Manager John Smith of Kingdom Services to provide a lighting and rigging solution. Kingdom are a North East based audio supplier with one of the largest stocks of D&B Audiotechnik in the country, they’ve had a long standing relationship with the Catholic diocese, providing full production for the Flame events for a number of years.
The brief for the lighting design was to take inspiration from the arches of a cathedral roof, the design was developed in-house by Axiom Events Director Robbie Baxter. Litec PRT was chosen to achieve the curves to mimic the arched roof, creating variable pitched angles. The event featured a catholic mass service as well as performances from choirs, soloists and a conference which required a large even onstage wash as well as varied dynamic mid-air looks. The service was operated by Olly Suckling, using a Chamsys MQ80 & Wing with networking via a fully Luminex data system.
Our rig contained Robe LEDWash 600, DL4X, Pointes, LEDBeam 150’s as well as SGM Q7, Strand 2k Fresnels and molefays. On stage vertical side trusses were added to achieve depth and to improve the even wash coverage for the performance aspects. The full rig was pre-prepped and pre-programmed at our facilities which then allowed the system to roll-in on the PRT, minimising setup time and allowing the rig to be flown and tested efficiently.
Kingdom Services provided D&B Audiotechnik’s new flagship large format line array, the KSL series. The SL series builds on the industry leading technology from D&B’s J and V series systems. The new generation of products are redesigned and re-engineered with efficiency at heart and are rapidly becoming the system on the top of riders worldwide. The system was all provided from Kingdom’s own rental stock, driven by racks of D80 amplifiers with control from a pair of Digico SD10’s running Optocore. Axiom Events have been working with John and the team from Kingdom for a number of years and continue to have a great working relationship, partnering on a number of major projects.
