Location Various UK Arena Venues Client SJM Concerts

Axiom supported Clubland for the second year of touring UK arenas. Providing full production to clients SJM Concerts with support from long time colleagues and suppliers 3D Productions and Arena Video The show featured a full roster of Clubland’s best known artists including Basshunter, Cascada, Darren Styles and Ultrabeat amongst others.

Originally brought on board for Clublands 20th anniversary tour in 2023, Axiom were chosen to provide touring production management on behalf of promoters and producers SJM. As a brand, Clubland are no strangers to big shows. Clubland has solidified its place as a powerhouse in the global music scene, dominating the charts with its unique hits and legendary compilations. The brief for the technical production was to create a design that matched the scale and intensity of the music.

The lighting and production design was developed in house by Pete Shorten with collaboration from touring LD Chris Gibbard-Walker and SJM advance production manager Joe Stenhouse. The design featured a fully loaded rig featuring pitched onstage trusses and wide side trusses to extend the design across the width and height of the arena. The aim of the design was to make the production feel as large as possible whilst maintaining focus and connection between the DJs and live acts centre stage. The show had to scale well for a range of Arena’s including Manchester AO Arena, Glasgow Hydro and Nottingham Motorpoint so the rig was toured on Tyler Pre-Rig truss to be as efficient as possible on the load in and outs.

The lighting team was led by Axiom’s Robbie Baxter, whose decision to deploy the new Ayrton Rivale Profile and Mac Aura XIP was a game-changer. The groundbreaking new Ayrton Rivale Profile, known for its powerful output and compact size, delivered stunning beams and intricate gobos that added depth to the performances. Complementing this, the Mac Aura XIP, with its robust construction and exceptional optical and color rendering capabilities, ensured consistent effects throughout the tour. These fixtures were chosen for their creativity, reliability and performance, which were crucial in maintaining the high-energy atmosphere of the Clubland tour. Other fixtures to note included a large quantity of SGM Q8, Robe Pointe, Clay Paky Mythos 2 and GLP X4 Bar20 all from Axiom’s own hire stock.

In an era where video elements are increasingly working in synergy with lighting, the provision of cutting-edge video equipment was instrumental in enhancing the creative consistency between departments. A large format 3.9mm blackface LED screen from Arena Video, and synchronised video content from Matt Knowles brought an added depth to the performance. Axiom’s new Blackmagic Portable Production Unit, featuring Blackmagic 4K ATEM and URSA 4K Cameras with Canon lenses, played a pivotal role. This enabled a 4K live feed to be fed into Resolume Arena, allowing for real-time manipulation and effects rendered with content.

The whole show was delivered utilising an extensive Axiom rigging package including our new Chainmaster D8+ hoists alongside a complement of CM Lodestars, Outboard and Guardian Motor control, and a custom lighting and rigging control package on touring dolly’s to maximise time efficiency. A special effects package including CO2 Jets, Stadium Blasters, G-Flames and Sparkulars was added to further the overall spectacle and impact of the show.

3D Productions deployed a D&B Audiotechnik KSL and V Series line array system with Array Processing. An Allen & Heath D-Live was at FOH and Digico SD9 were at monitors, alongside a large package of Shure and Sennheiser wireless systems.
